I spend a lot of time at the library, and my favorite place to sit is the big, round table in the children’s room. It’s right under a bay window. Natural light is my BFF.
The librarian just came over and said that this area is reserved for parents and their children.
“Oh, that’s OK,” I assured her. “I’ve totally got a little boy.”
“Where is he?”
“At school.”
Actually, no. That conversation didn’t happen. AT ALL. I totally made it up. But if they ever do question me? I’ve got my answer ready, y’all.
Another Smile Friday entry. From the same day as the photo I posted earlier.
This must have been my brother’s high school graduation party. The daytime edition.
I am 21 here. You could not pay me to trade places with Maria at 21. But there are plenty of sweet nothings I’d love to whisper in her ear and I sure do like looking at her.
For Smile Friday.
Me and my niece Danielle and my cat Peter (Pan), in my mom’s backyard in Nyack.
When Peter was a kitten I named him Buttercup. Then I realized he was a boy and had to change his name. Years later I did this again with Rabbit, but by that point I had smartened up and given the cat an androgynous name, so no change was necessary.
Maria: Emasculating kittens since 1992.
